This image was made for the II Encuentro Hemisferico Frente la Militarizacion in Honduras in October of last year. (The 2nd Hemisferic Meeting against militarization). The 1st meeting was held in Chiapas in 2003. International delegates came as well as grassroots organizations from across Honduras. The location was La Esperanza and the insect in the graphic is an ‘esperancita’ a small katydid that lives in the region. Their staffs and head wraps are traditions of the Lenca people who are part of the ongoing struggle against military occupation and now also an important part of the struggle against the coup d’etat of June 2009.
